Soldier Pile and Lagging Wall Along Boylston Street

Project Description:
50ft deep excavation for below ground athletic facility.  This structure was placed on a 100ft wide lot, which is directly adjacent to existing brick 4 story structures on either side.
Challenges faced for this excavation include excavation of, and within, a new slurry wall directly adjacent to and below existing building footings, as well as City imposed restrictions for work areas at the site perimeter.
The AA Will Corporation proposed utilizing an innovative underpinning and restraint method, which allowed the slurry wall to be installed without infringing on the neighboring properties. A two level cross lot bracing system was then installed to allow excavation to proceed to depths of up to 30ft below the existing building footings.
AA Will also worked closely with the general contractor and the owner’s representative to create a truck loading area, which allowed excavation to proceed with the new City’s restrictions.
